We will experiment with different lettering styles to create depth, texture and detail.
Skills to Practice:
Drawing Different Font types : Serif, Sans-serif, Script, Blackletter, Bubble and Display fonts
Drop Lines – Adding lines around letters that have similar shapes to add ‘life’ to your letters
One Point Perspective – Draw Perspective lines to make your letter look ‘3D’.
Lighting and Roundness – Add lighting and draw roundness to give a letter an illusion of volume
Width – Play with various widths for the shapes of you letter
Overlapping – Show elements of the letter overlapping and weaving within itself
Bevel and Emboss – Create the illusion of an inner texture on the letter
Free style – Make up a unique letter form – water, fire, tree etc.
